Understanding Your Electric Bill

As a Santa Barbara Clean Energy (SBCE) customer, you still receive a bill from Southern California Edison. They handle billing and delivery, but SBCE procures energy on your behalf from renewable and clean energy sources.

Important information about charges on your bill:

• SBCE charges you for electricity generation and provides your home or business with energy.
• SCE charges for transmission and delivery of electricity and required regulatory and program charges. SCE charges the same rates for customers receiving electricity from SBCE as they do for those receiving power from SCE. 
• SCE adds fees to the bills of customers of community choice energy providers like SBCE. These fees are factored into SBCE's rates so that customers still save money on monthly bills compared to customers not enrolled in SBCE.
• Your bill includes charges from both SBCE and SCE, but there are never duplicate charges.
